083 Science Day Celebration

28 February is celebrated as National Science Day in India, commemorating the discovery of 'Raman Effect' by Sir C. V. Raman in 1928. He was also awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics for the discovery in 1930.

An assembly on 'Science and Social Awareness’ was conducted with the purpose of understanding how scientific knowledge should be used to spread awareness so that one does not blindly follow the advice of social media influencers. The assembly began with a 5 minute guided meditation followed by a video that showed how a common compound like water if referred to by a different chemical name could be misleading. A skit was performed to highlight how different products and their labels could be very different from what it actually contains. A PowerPoint presentation threw light on different products and their ingredients.  The assembly ended with a prayer.
