We were delighted to receive a special invitation from Campion school for the Sheth-Gomes Essay Competition.

The Sheth-Gomes Essay Competition was held for the first time on 26^th November 2022 by the Campion batch of 1981 to honour the legacy of two pioneer teachers - Mr.Joe Sheth and Mr.Stanley Gomes. One student of Std.10 from different schools across various educational boards participated in the same. Dr. Shashi Tharoor was the chief guest for the grand occasion.

The event was sponsored by companies like Borosil, William Pen and Araku Coffee. The winner was awarded a rotating trophy which was designed by the renowned jewellery designer - Biren Vaidya alongwith a cash prize of Rs.1 Lakh, gifts and vouchers from the sponsors.

The jury members were eminent personalities from different fields such as Twinkle Khanna, Rajdeep Sardesai, Atul Kasbekar and Namita Devidayal. Stand-up comedian Azeem Banatwalla also performed at the event.

The topic of the essay was ‘Greening India : What will it take to make the country more economically conscious? ’which made the students express their thoughts in the most creative way. Anya Choudhary from VIBGYOR school (Borivali) won the prize. Each participant was awarded a certificate and gifts from the sponsors. It was an enriching experience and I am grateful to my Principal and teachers who encouraged me to participate and my mother for accompanying me to Campion School.
