Scout Camp on 15th and 16th September 2022

Venue – Nature Hunt Camp – Khopoli for Stds.9 & 10

Education is not just acquired through books. It is a process of learning through practical approach with a balanced profile and attitude. The objective of Scouts is to offer an opportunity for the youth to grow, develop and practice the principles of togetherness and self-reliance. Hence the students of Stds.9 and 10 were taken for a 2 days Scout Camp to ‘Nature Hunt Campsite’ – Khopoli. The students were accompanied by staff members - Mr.Brian Rebello, Mr.Anandprakash Sharma, Mr.Nepolian Almeida and a renowned Scout Master-Mr.Elias Correia.

The Scout Camp began with the hoisting of the Scout flag by Mr.Anandprakash Sharma. The students were trained in various activities like camping, patrolling, troop club room, different kinds of hand signals with voice signals. We also learnt to make different knots with ropes and their uses and got an opportunity to learn from the expertise of Mr.Elias. Learning needed to be intertwined with games to create a more significant impact and though the night was approaching we danced and played as it provided a light note for the ending of a great day of learning.

The next morning students woke up before sunrise and left for a trek to Umbarkhind. After returning from the trek students assembled for another informative yet fun filled session by Mr.Elias. The students went for a swim after the session and then returned to school safely. It was a memorable experience for the students as they learnt life skills through this programme and outdoor Scout Camp at Khopoli.
