023 Le Jour De Bastille-Campion Inter-School Event
An interschool event ‘Le Jour De Bastille’ was organized by Campion School on the 13th of July. This event was conducted to commemorate the National Day of France also known as ‘Bastille Day’, celebrated on 14th of July every year, which marks the start of the French Revolution and also as part of the school’s 80th Oak Year celebrations.
This event consisted of 2 competitions based on French language and culture. For the “Essay writing competition” students were given 5 topics in advance for which they had to prepare essays of 300-350 words each in French. On the day of the competition a random chit was selected and students had to write the essay on that topic. In the “Collage-making competition” students had to create a collage of any French artwork by using any material of his/her choice except for paints and colouring or sketching material. They were not allowed to refer to the picture of the artwork and had to recreate it from memory.
Amogh Dhawade of class 9-1 and Rudresh Jogadia of 9-2 did our school proud by each securing the second prize in the Essay writing competition and the Collage-making competition respectively. Amogh wrote an essay on the topic” France- Un Pays de l’Art” and Rudresh made a collage of the painting “Le Désespéré” (Portrait of a Desperate Man) by Gustave Courbet. We are proud of their achievement and for taking up the challenge of venturing into uncharted waters.
