St. Ignatius of Loyola - Feast Day Celebrations
Feast of St. Ignatius of Loyola – 31st July, 2020
“ Enlighten what’s dark in me,
Strengthen what’s weak in me,
Mend what’s broken in me,
Bind what’s bruised in me,
Heal what’s sick in me,
Let none be cheated by me,
Revive whatever peace and love has died in me.”
-St. Ignatius Prayer
This is the first time in history St. Xavier’s Boys' Academy celebrated a virtual mass on the occasion of the feast day of our founder St. Ignatius of Loyola on 31st July, 2020 due to the current Covid 19 pandemic. The Eucharistic celebration was presided by our very own S. X. B. A Manager Fr. Blaise D'souza s. j. The live streaming of the mass was done on Google Meet at 10am. It was good to see many S. X. B. A & S. X. I. E current and past staff members who joined the live streaming of the Eucharistic celebration. This day holds an extremely important place in the hearts of all those who are part of “Jesus Company”(the society of Jesus) which was founded by St. Ignatius of Loyola.
The Eucharistic celebration commenced with a video on the life of St. Ignatius & his Jesus Company presented by Fr. Myron Pereira. Our Manager welcomed the Principal, staff and students of both S.X.B.A & S.X.I.E family virtually . Fr. Blaise gave a very reflective and thought inspiring homily and pointed out that we need to change and adapt to new things due to the current Covid 19 pandemic. We also need to reflect and ponder and learn new insights about this calamity of how we can reach to the marginalised and try to bring a change for the betterment of this mission. The mass was then followed by the prayer of the faithful.. Intentions were made for those who served S.X.B.A during the Academic year 2019 and for the good health of staff members. It was then followers by a Thanksgiving prayer.
The Principal Ms. Preema Noronha thanked everyone for being a part of the Eucharistic celebration. Fr. Blaise thanked Mrs. Yvonne Rodrigues the Head-Mistress of the Primary section who retires today and for rendering her fruitful service to the Institution.
The celebration ended with the cutting of the cake by giving a tribute to Mrs. Yvonne Rodrigues.
