Alumni from among our first batch to a few from our latest batch including the present School Captain and Vice Captain were witness to the memorable unveiling of the portrait of Fr. Ernest Netto S.J. On 15 August 1925, our 79th Independence day, an auspicious day indeed!
Fr Netto S.J., Principal from 1969 to1971 and 1974 to 1981, was honoured and revered for his legacy to St Xavier’s Boys’ Academy during his tenure as Principal in the Sologran Auditorium by his students.
Our present Manager Fr. Dr. Swamy S.J. graced the occasion along with Mrs Monica Rose the Principal, Mrs Minelia Monteiro Head Mistress- Primary section, Ms Heena Pereira the Supervisor and the Principal of St Xavier’s Institute of Education Dr Andrea Coutinho.
The meeting started with the traditional school opening prayer followed by the singing of the National Anthem and ended with the closing prayer.
The past students paid homage to their beloved Fr Ernest Netto S.J. by unveiling his portrait and lighting candles. The candid, humorous yet poignant speeches by the President Dr Kamlesh Desai and others made it a nostalgic and deserving tribute to the Principal whose legacy continues to inspire them and St Xavier’s Boys’ Academy.
