A two-day seminar on Safeguarding of Minors and Vulnerable Adults was organized at the Pope Francis Hall, Vinayalaya Retreat House on 26th and 27th August 2025.
The sessions were conducted by Dr. Fr. Konrad Noronha SJ, who shared his expertise on the importance of creating safe environments, preventive measures, and the responsibility involved in protecting children and vulnerable adults.
The program aimed to equip teachers with awareness, skills, and guidelines to respond effectively and sensitively to safeguarding students in their care and institutions.
Fr. Konrad highlighted the risks minors face, the role of institutions in prevention, and the importance of trust and accountability. He also explained guidelines to help institutions form policies, adopt safe practices, and learn from case studies that demonstrated preventive strategies.
Teachers from different Jesuit schools engaged in discussions on real-life scenarios and shared their experiences of the challenges faced in ensuring safety.
The seminar was a meaningful and enriching experience for all participants. Under the guidance of Dr. Fr. Konrad Noronha SJ, the session provided practical tools and deep insights into safeguarding practices that schools can adopt for the protection of students, participants left with a renewed commitment to foster safe and inclusive environments for all in their care.
