IRMUN
On 8Jul21 when Ms. Monica Rose posted about IRMUN – my curiosity got the better of me. “What is IRMUN? How will it benefit me?” I asked my mother.
In the introductory sessions I learnt, IRMUN stands for International Republic of Model United Nations. MUN is basically an academic simulation of United Nations where students play the role of delegates from different countries in an attempt to solve real world issues.
Thanks to my school, I had the opportunity to participate in IRMUN.
In the preparatory sessions we were given various committee options to join where we would have to discuss and find solutions. In the committee we would be given various portfolios. My committee was World War 2 and I was a delegate of Philippines. Ms. Monica Rose helped me with a lot of information on the World War 2 and history of Philippines.
The experience was even better for me as I was selected by IRMUN as one of the 30 Campus Ambassadors for IRMUN. As a Campus Ambassador I got the opportunity to tell my friends and other interested candidates about the program.
The 2 day event was held on 28th & 29th August’ 21 where there were detailed discussions and debates held on the subject. The committee prepared a revolution and working paper on the discussions and solutions.
At the end of this program I have made a lot of new friends and got a lot of information on the subject.
Age is not a factor here as there were students of various age groups in IRMUN.
I am grateful to my school, my Principal, Ms Preema Noronha and Ms. Monica Rose for this opportunity – I look forward to participating in IRMUN’s future events.
