Inclusive Leadership : A Gandhian Paradigm’ (Training for Student Council Members)
And a Play – ‘Lead Kindly Light’
On 1st October 2019 eight student council members of St.Xavier’s Boys’ Academy accompanied by Mr.Larry Pereira attended a workshop at St.Andrew’s College, Bandra on ‘Inclusive Leadership: A Gandhian Paradigm’ from 9.00 a.m. to 11.00 a.m.
8 schools in all participated in this workshop which was conducted by the multi-talented Mr.Abishek Banerjee. He taught us the importance of values like teamwork and the prudent use of resources. After the talk from 11.45 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. we witnessed a play designed and directed by Dr.Omkar Bhatkar-‘Lead Kindly Light’. This play was based on the life of Mahatma Gandhi, his ideas and thoughts about religious pluralism. The play though presented in a very simple manner had a profound impact on the audience. We were amazed at the deep thoughts that Gandhiji held which he was able to translate into action in his everyday life. The play ‘Lead Kindly Light’ highlighted the Mahatama’s perspective on issues that we are still grappling with in the modern times – e.g. need for a national language, plight of farmers, religious pluralism etc. We thank Fr.Magi Murzello – Manager–St.Andrew’s College for extending the invitation to our Student Council Members as also to our Principal and Mr.Larry Pereira for being present with us.
