“Speech is power: speech is to persuade, to convert, to compel.” - Ralph Waldo Emerson
The spirit of eloquence, creativity, and confidence echoed through the walls of Sologran Hall on 24th July 2025, as St. Xavier’s Boys' Academy secondary section hosted its much-anticipated inter-house English Elocution Competition for the academic year 2025–26.
The event was conducted in two rounds — the Junior category began at 9:00 am, followed by the Senior category at 10:30 am. The central theme for this year, “Forming Creative Global Citizens”, inspired students to reflect on values of innovation, cultural awareness, and responsible global engagement. The juniors recited poems—either chosen or original—that resonated with the theme, while seniors showcased a variety of powerful literary pieces of their own choice.
The elocution was judged by the esteemed Ms. Arlene Dias and Ms. Marilyn Rebello, accomplished educators with expertise in English, Mathematics, and Languages. Their insightful feedback and encouraging words helped enrich the experience for all participants.
This inter-house event witnessed spirited participation from the four school houses—Tagore, Tilak, Kabir, and Nehru—each represented by four students in both the junior and senior categories. The young orators mesmerized the audience with their diction, confidence, and expressive delivery.
The event was graced by our Principal, Ms. Monica Rose, Supervisor Ms. Heena Pereira, teachers, and proud parents of the participants. Their presence added warmth and encouragement to the atmosphere.
A special word of appreciation goes out to the audience, whose encouraging smiles, attentive presence, and applause truly uplifted the spirit of every speaker.
At the conclusion of both rounds, Principal Ms. Monica Rose delivered the Vote of Thanks, appreciating the enthusiasm of the participants, the dedication of the teachers, the presence of the parents, and the valuable contribution of the judges.
The English Elocution Competition 2025–26 was not just a platform for performance but a celebration of voice, vision, and the making of future global leaders.
