011 Compost Making Workshop

On July 10, 2024, the Nature club organised a comprehensive compost-making workshop in school which began at 1:10 p.m. The workshop was conducted by Miss Marilyn Rebello and it was attended by students, all eager to learn the intricacies of sustainable composting practices.

The session began with Ms. Marilyn providing an engaging introduction to composting, highlighting its environmental benefits and the role it plays in waste reduction.

Ms. Marilyn then proceeded to a hands-on demonstration, where participants were guided through the process of creating a compost pile. She explained the importance of balancing green (nitrogen-rich) and brown (carbon-rich) materials, and provided practical tips on how to maintain an effective compost system.

Participants were encouraged to get their hands dirty, quite literally, as they assembled their compost piles. We were also provided with practical advice on troubleshooting common composting issues, such as managing moisture levels and avoiding pests, which would enable us to continue in our journey towards living a sustainable and eco-friendly life. The workshop ended with a vote of thanks proposed by one of the participants- Chaitanya Deshmukh (Class 7.1)
