On 21^st February 2022 the Mumbai School Sports Association (MSSA) completed 125 years of their Harris Shield Cricket Tournament and a celebration was organised by them on this occasion. The Harris Shield tournament is played every year by students of various schools in Mumbai. Well known legendary Indian cricketers like Sachin Tendulkar and Vinod Kambli are the shining products of this association. As this year the Harris Shield tournament reached a milestone (125 years ) the MSSA sent out invitations to all schools in Mumbai who were participants of the MSSA matches. Hence our school – St.Xavier’s Boys’ Academy was privileged to be a part of this grand celebration.

The occasion was graced with the presence of many well-known Indian cricketers like Dilip Vengsarkar, Vinod Kambli, Sanjay Bangar, Dinesh Karthik and Varun Chakraborty.

Mr.Dilip Vengsarkar the chief guest of the evening reached the heights in his cricketing career by playing school cricket and later international cricket as well. Another important personality Sanjay Bajaj an Indian born but currently a resident of UAE – a businessman who is the founder of a Cricket Association called ‘Cricket for Care’ sponsored the cricket kits gifted to all the participating schools.

(Std.10) and Keval Parekh (Std.9) represented our school for this celebration. It was an enriching experience for us budding cricketers to meet these cricketing icons and be a part of the celebrations.
