“Being responsible for our Carbon Footprint” – 19/2/2022

The heads of all Jesuit schools in the Mumbai Province were invited by the Jesuit School Board to a meeting conducted by Fr.Luke Rodrigues s.j. and Fr.Wendell D’Cruz s.j. at St.Mary’s High School ICSE on 19th February 2022 from 8.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. Keeping in mind the UAP’S specially - ‘Care for our Common Home’ the Bombay Province Apostolic Plan was shared with the participants.

At the outset the 7 goals of the Church to work towards the common mission of ‘Ecology and Spirituality’ namely - ‘Responding to the cry of the earth/ poor, Ecological economics, Adapting a simple lifestyle, Ecological education, Ecological spirituality and Community engagement with practical ideas to adapt, collaborate and incorporate the same in our lifestyles was explained by Fr.Luke s.j.

Fr.Wendell s.j. shared and spelt out the Action Plan towards this mission in the field of Education by having Eco Clubs/Nature Clubs, appointing Eco Animators and finally conducting an Eco Audit school wise. ‘Leaders for Ecological Action Force’ (LEAF) was the name of the Eco club at the Province level. LEAF will inspire, inform and involve everyone to be more eco-friendly in our lifestyle and functioning. Every school was expected to send the names of 2 staff members to be the Eco Animators of LEAF.
