040 Independence Day Celebration – 15/8/2023

“My soil, My country.”

“My country is not just a piece of land - it is a work of art, a masterpiece that inspires every soul.”

On the occasion of the Feast of the Assumption of our Lady the catholic students and some staff members participated in the ‘Eucharist’ celebrated by Fr.Arul John Bosco s.j. – Manager at 7.15 a.m. (Media Room) after which the 77th  Anniversary of India’s Independence was celebrated with great enthusiasm at St.Xavier’s Boys’ Academy. We were honoured to have in our midst Mr. Harish Kapadia the father of our ex-student late lieutenant  Mr. Nawang Kapadia – a martyr of the Kargil war.

The street play brought out the current issues faced by farmers, women’s rights and education which India faced 76 years ago and is prevalent even in today’s time. The flag was hoisted by our chief guest- Mr. Harish Kapadia. Prayerful intentions were made to invoke God’s blessings. The play enacted by students conveyed the message that everyone should be aware of their rights as a citizen of India. The Vice-captain made an inspiring speech about ‘My soil, my country’.

A heart touching message was conveyed by our chief guest. He spoke about the life of his son late lieutenant Mr. Nawang Kapadia and the struggles he faced while he was in combat at the Kargil war and how he lost his life for the country. It was followed by a motivational video. A memento was presented to our chief guest on behalf of the school. It was followed by a melodious song by Ms.Vipula Bhagat with an enactment by our students. The drill “Jai Ho” was the finale of the programme which kept everyone’s feet tapping and ended with a proud salute to our country. Scholarships and the Prizes were distributed to students of Std.10 batch (2022-2023).  Mr.S.D’Mello and Mr.Harish Kapadia were requested to give away these awards.

The Principal thanked the chief guest, the Kapadia family and the guests of honour as also the teacher coordinators for putting up a wonderful programme which had a great impact on all those who were present for this occasion.
