 St. Xavier’s Boys’ Academy conducted its Annual Inter-House Elocution Competition on 29th July 2026 at the Sologran Auditorium. The competition was centred around the thought-provoking theme, “Forming Mindful Minds in Digital Times,” encouraging students to reflect on the responsible, balanced and mindful use of digital technology in their daily lives.

 The event was graced by Ms. Maria D’Souza from New Bharda High School and Ms. Minelia Monteiro, Headmistress of the Primary Section of St. Xavier’s Boys’ Academy, who served as the judges. Their valuable presence and keen observation added significance to the competition.

 The competition was divided into two categories. The junior participants recited poems based on the theme, showcasing their confidence, expression and understanding through poetry. The senior students delivered speeches, presenting their thoughts and opinions on the impact of the digital world and the importance of developing mindful habits in an increasingly connected society.

 The participants were trained and guided by the English teachers, whose dedicated efforts helped the students prepare and present their pieces with confidence and clarity. Ms. Valentina Sequeira and Ms. Sheryl D’Costa were the teachers-in-charge of the event and ensured that the programme was organised efficiently.

 The auditorium was beautifully decorated with a creative backdrop designed by Ms. Vipula, which enhanced the overall ambience of the programme. The event was compered by Tanish Dugar of Class IX and Viren Patole of Class VII, who conducted the programme with confidence and enthusiasm.

 The technical arrangements were also efficiently managed with the help of the students. Suhaan Kheradia of Class X recorded the videos and assisted with photography, ensuring that the memorable moments of the event were captured. Anivash of Class IX volunteered his assistance with the microphone setup and provided support wherever required.

 The programme proceeded smoothly and was marked by enthusiastic participation, confident performances and meaningful reflections on the theme. The competition not only provided students with a platform to develop their public-speaking and presentation skills but also encouraged them to become more responsible and thoughtful users of digital technology.

 The Annual Inter-House Elocution Competition was thus a meaningful and successful event, leaving the audience with an important message: in a world driven by technology, developing mindful minds is essential for using digital spaces wisely and responsibly.
