An event named- ‘Let’s get Creative with Pippi’ was held by St. Andrew’s High School, Bandra on 27th April 2022 at St. Andrew’s School Hall to celebrate 75 years of the creation of the character- Pippi Longstocking. Our school was invited for the event and as per the invite the two 5th standard students that attended the event were Suhaan Kheradia (5.1) and Henil Anand (5.2) and they were accompanied by one of the 5th standard teacher- Ms. Adelaide Pereira.
The registration for the event began at 9:30 a.m. which was then followed by refreshments. The hall was filled with quotes from various volumes and incidents of Pippi’s life. The event began at 10:00 a.m. and the Dignitaries for the event were - Ms. Anna Lekvall (Swedish Consul General), Mr. Erik Malmberg (Swedish Consul), Fr. Magi Murzello (Rector of St. Andrew’s College and Principal of St. Andrew’s School), Ms. Priyanka Sangharsh (IKEA Mumbai, Customer Relations Manager) Ms. Nalini Sorensen (Children’s Book Author).
The event consisted of various segments that included action songs, speeches by the dignitaries, enactment of scenes from Pippi’s life, storytelling of various important anecdotes, cutting of the cake to symbolize celebration of Pippi’s birthday and playing of various games. All these segments highlighted how Pippi was an independent, free-spirited, creative and imaginative girl who also helped people when needed.
The event ended with Fr. Magi giving everyone information about ZOC (Zero out Carbon) and ways we can reduce our Carbon Footprint and help save our Mother Earth. After the event a scrumptious lunch and a spread of desserts was organized. Before we left the venue, we received a token of love from the Swedish Consulate and St. Andrew’s School that consisted of an organic pencil with seeds, a cloth bag, a promise leaf, a cupcake, ginger biscuits, a Pippi story book, and a Pippi bookmark.
Thus, the event was a very informative, engaging and well organized one that will remain with the students and teacher for a long time.
