Marathi Divas – 27/2/2020

Every year in our school Marathi Divas is celebrated on 27/2/2020. This year also a special assembly was held in honour of the famous Marathi poet & writer Shri Vishnu Waman Shirvadkar on ‘Marathi Raj Bhasha Din’.

The assembly started with the lighting of the lamp by our dignitaries – Vice Principal - Mr.Savio D’Mello, Teacher Representative – Mr.Brian Rebello, Student Representative – Ankush Anchalwar and Chief guests – Mr.Dilip Sangle and mother of Ex-Nehru House Captain – Mrs.Archana Anchalwar. After the lighting of the lamp, a power point presentation on the history, culture and birth of the language was displayed. The students liked and enjoyed this presentation very much. Post the presentation we invited Mrs.Anchalwar to express her feelings about the assembly. She explained to us in a very simple way how easy it is to learn Marathi and how we should accept the challenge to learn this language.

Mr.Dilip Sangle spoke about the origin of the Marathi language from Sanskrit and informed us that it is the only official language of Maharashtra. We recited the Preamble to the constitution and took our pledge in Marathi at the end of the programme. This was a very well planned assembly which was appreciated by everyone present.
