070 Teachers without borders – An International Symposium on 5/10/2023 at St.Andrew’s Auditorium (Bandra)

On the occasion of ‘World Teachers’ Day’ on 5th October 2023, ‘CACHE’ – Centre for Advanced studies in Culture, Happiness and Ethics organised an insightful symposium where erudite resource persons from different walks of life addressed a large gathering of 220 teachers and educators from India and also via the online mode from other countries.

The catch phrase of ‘CACHE’ – Learn, Collaborate and Catalyse change was an endeavour to spark the flame of joy, wellness and happiness within the teachers and educators as the focal point of their own development the world over, through classroom / connect / community.

Prof. Dr.Michelle Philip – Professor and HOD of Wilson College delved on the theme ‘Teachers are Imagineers’, Maj.Gen.Om Gulia spoke about ‘leadership’, Ms.Snehal Pinto from Ryan School’s exhorted us to think global but act local in the context of Global citizenship, Prof. Hanif Lakdawala told us to develop the skill of story telling and to encourage a questioning mind among our students, to be an Inspiration to our students and help them work using intuition to gain an insight into their future. Fr.Adolf Furtado sdb spoke about ‘International Collaboration in Education’ whereby educators play the role of a prophet, mystic and a servant leader so that education can become transformational instead of transactional as it sometimes tends to be. Ms.Anna Bredmeyer spoke about the influence of her own teachers in shaping her to become India’s first supermodel, Dr.Nestor Crasto professor from Philippines spoke about ‘Personal integrity’,  Rev.Dr.Prof Chandima Gangodawila shared the Buddhist philosophy on Conflict Resolution through loving kindness and Dr.Phil I Katut Aradhana from Canada shared his views on ‘Globalisation and its impact on Education in Asia’.

Fr.Magi Murzello the host of the programme gave the vote of thanks, provided us with a beautiful ambience, sumptuous lunch and snacks and a very thoughtful gift for every participant who attended the day’s programme. We also received a certification of participation before we left for the day.

Mr.Larry Pereira and Ms.Preema Noronha attended this symposium.
