The Red Cross Society, in collaboration with St. Xavier’s Boys Academy, organized a Beach Clean-Up Drive on 8th September at Chowpatty Beach from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from volunteers, students, and local residents who came together with a common goal of restoring the beauty of the beach.
Participants were divided into groups and provided with gloves, masks, and garbage bags. They collected plastic bottles, wrappers, food waste, and other litter scattered along the shore. In just two hours, several bags of waste were gathered, making a visible difference to the cleanliness of the beach.
The initiative not only helped in cleaning the surroundings but also spread awareness about the importance of keeping our beaches pollution-free. The organizers, Bhavesh Sir and Aarav Vengurlekar, along with Mr. Brian Rebello (teacher in-charge), highlighted the harmful effects of plastic and waste on marine life and urged citizens to adopt eco-friendly practices.
The drive concluded successfully with volunteers taking a pledge to reduce single-use plastic and continue contributing to such environmental causes.
