“Too often we enjoy the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought”

 With an objective of enabling our students to become critical thinkers and make wise decisions and choices in life,  Educational talks were organized for the  students of Class 8 on 16th August and for Class 9 and 10 on 21st August, 2024. The talks centered on the theme of Influence of Media in our lives.

Our resource person Fr. Sandeep Borges through his dynamic style of conducting sessions touched on the following topics - Having good self worth, using discernment and personal discretion, needs versus wants, making wise and informed choices, dangers of using media without restriction, addiction to social media and it's dangerous consequences, violent games involving  harm to oneself and others. Through various activities and videos, he spoke about how commercial advertisements make us into puppets and fool us to buy what they sell without rational thinking. He exhorted the students to value their lives and the love and hardwork of their parents more than the empty glamor of  social media. He challenged the students to use their obstacles as a driving force to achieve success. He also spoke about how media could be used for a constructive purpose. He made the students understand through an activity that each of us have the power  to harm or heal others and made the students reflect on what they would choose.

Fr. Sandeep Borges  kept the students engaged and interactive all through the talk and rewarded them with some spot prizes for their participation. We thank him for effectively drawing out life’s important lessons through his talk and guiding our students to live life with prudence.
