The ECO club workshop at St. Mary’s ICSE school, Mazgaon, was attended by Ms. Shalki Tripathi and Ms. Neharika Vaz on the 20.06.2026. The session began with a brief introduction of the resource person of the day – Mr. Lanka Prasad. The session’s goal was to equip the teachers with the knowledge of how to make each Jesuit School Eco Club effective in its Ecology work. Detailed explanations of how to form a policy to build a sustainable school through changes in school-wide practices and behaviour were given. Following 4 aspects were considered as the goals to be achieved to become sustainable schools.
1. Water positive
2. Carbon neutral
3. Zero waste to landfills
4. Biodiversity enhancing
The need for schools to build long term habits based on science in their students and ways to implement these habits were discussed. If we start making conscious efforts in the direction of sustainability and continue to monitor them closely, then it is possible for us to achieve our goals not only in our schools but also in every aspect of our lives.
The workshop ended with a hearty meal.
